Brake Disclaimer
Some States require brakes even on light duty trailers. It is your responsibility to order brakes on your trailer if it is required in your state. If you are not sure, check with your State Department of Transportation.
Electric Brakes are the standard in the industry. They are very reliable and reduce stopping distances substantially. Electric Brakes do require a controller to be installed inside the cab of the tow vehicle. Most Vehicles capable of towing trailers come prewired for electric brakes so installing a controller is not difficult.
Electric Brakes come with a "Break Away System" that applies the trailer brakes to stop the trailer in the event the trailer becomes detached from the tow vehicle while driving. Simply Attach the Break Away Cable when hooking up the trailer.
